Old World Christmas Tree Featuring Curated and Hand Painted Bespoke Ornaments
Hi there, friends! It’s that time again. Time to share our annual holiday/Christmas tree, for the Christmas Tree Hop, hosted by my friend, Stephanie, of Casa Watkins Living!
Last year was the first year I hadn’t participated, and honestly I can’t remember why, however I did share our tree here on the blog, so there’s that! Anyways, I’m happy to be a part of such a talented group of designers/stylists, and can’t wait to see what everyone has done with their trees, this year!
Let’s have a look at our tree, shall we?
Our Old World Christmas Tree
I enjoyed our tree so much last year, that we decided to use it again this year. Even some of the ornaments made it back onto the tree, which if you know me, is almost unheard of. I guess I’m settling into a more nostalgic tree decorating style, this year, and it feels good! Don’t hold me to it next year though. It’s always about inspiration, and if the tree in my head was anything other than this, it would most certainly be different. I love it though, and with a few new additions I feel like it reads like a whole different tree!
Bespoke, Hand Painted, and Curated
Usually I know exactly what I want to do with a tree, but there have been years where I let inspiration take me where leads, and this was one of those years. I first came across a collection of beautiful glass ornaments, in various styles and sizes at a craft store a few months back. It was a quick sell, knowing they’d make a beautiful base for our tree this year. And they do!
If you’re new to the blog, you’ll find that the holidays always inspire me to craft, in one medium or another. I did quite a few last year, but the one I enjoyed the most was hand painting ornaments for our tree. I knew it would be something that I’d like to do again for our tree this year, so I picked up some supplies and got to work. I hoped to achieve a primitive art style, something like a petroglyph, and I think I did just that. Well, with a little twist, but the overall vibe is exactly what I was hoping for. I’ve been considering selling different collections in the future. I’d love to hear if that is something you’d be interested in.
As I do each week, I found myself at a vintage shop, perusing the aisles, hoping to find something for our holiday decor. I always look out for ornaments, and in doing so, curated a collection of ornaments that have made our tree even more special this year. If you even want a truly unique tree, I suggest you try doing this yourself. The pricing can’t be beat, and it’s fun too!
A scattering of glass mushroom ornaments, handmade red velvet ribbon bows, and small glittery poinsettia flowers topped off with a star, and grounded with a quilted velvet tree skirt, bring even more interest to our tree, and help to create an overall old world, whimsical tree, which we love.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this detailed look at our tree. I know I’ve had a great time sharing it with you all. Now please, hop on to see what my fellow participants have done with theirs. Have fun, and Happy Holidays!
