Bluebonnets and a Planter
This week has pretty much flown by. I wasn’t prepared to share anything on Tuesday, like I normally do, and I almost didn’t think to even create a post today, but I’m nervously awaiting news about Grandpa, so I feel the need to focus on something. He’s been having dizzy spells, so my aunt is taking him to the dr. to see if they will see him today. Being 90 years old, I always fear the worst for him, no matter what the symptom is. I know all I can really do is pray to God to take this from me, but having something to shift my focus to helps.
John and I took Rordan out to take his annual bluebonnet picture this week. Each year around this time, Texas is filled with fields of bluebonnets. It’s such a beautiful sight! Something else you will see around this time, is a bunch of crazy parents attempting to get their little ones to cooperate in a random field, to take photos. I used to laugh about it, before I was a parent. I know that professional photographers will scout out beautiful and safe fields that are far away from the big cities, and crazy traffic, but those aren’t the people I am talking about. I’m talking about those of us, yes now I’m a crazy parent too, that pull over on the side of the highway to get our child to pose for the “perfect” shot. It’s so scary! I’ve managed to avoid actually pulling over on the highway, but only because the area that I live in is still being developed, so we are able to visit untouched fields of these beauties. If those disappear, I bet you will see me on the side of the road too one day. Haha!
On the way home from work this week, John noticed that a family was taking pictures behind the new convenience store down the street. Apparently the construction crews had carved out a drive way to a new site they will be working on in the near future. Right next to that space is what I refer to as a river of bluebonnets. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Rather than boring you with more chit chat about it, I’m going to share a few of the pictures I took of Rordan that same day.
The next thing I wanted to share is this cute little shell that I turned into a planter. I found some bright green moss at Lowe’s and added it to the planter. It’s a perfect match! This baby is now living on my balcony porch. I hope it makes it past my black thumb! Haha!

Iris, your son is so cute! I love bluebonnets. They’re really beautiful. I wish they grew wild in Florida like they do in Texas. Sending you hugs and prayers for your grandpa’s health. Coco

Thank you Coco! Grandpa’s doctors visit answered a lot of questions about his current behaviors. It seems as though he has early Parkinson’s, and that’s been causing him to not be able to walk around much. In a way it’s a good diagnosis, in comparison to others, but of course it would have been wonderful if nothing was wrong at all. Getting old is hard. Poor guy. Have a wonderful weekend sweet friend! 🙂
