Coffee Bar: One Room Challenge (Reveal)
Hi there, friends! Thank you for visiting the blog again today! I have to apologize to those of you following along with my One Room Challenge posts. This challenge got away from me, but life is such that when more important things come along, you must tend to them, and that’s just what we did. We did manage to complete the coffee bar section of our dining room makeover though, and that’s been the main focus so I guess all wasn’t lost. The rest of the space is still a work in progress. We still have a bit more work to do around the windows and continuing into the main section of the dining area. We will have to build the new cupboards for the space, so it’ll be a little while before that’s all done. I’m hoping either by the end of the year, or by the first month of the new year. I’m not rushing it, as I want to enjoy the holiday season with my little family here at home, and well, all I have is time to fill with this pandemic taking over again. I hope you’ll continue to stop by the blog to see our progress.
Are you ready to see the coffee bar? I hope so, because I’m ready to share it!
Here’s where it all started, with a sketch of the coffee bar. Then I put together a mood board for the entire dining area.
You can see our progress via Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, and Week 4.
Here it is!
It’s a beauty, isn’t it!
It has ample counter space for our Keurig coffee maker, and accessories, as well as some pretty décor and art pieces, because I’m me and require such things in my life. I plan to use the drawer directly below the coffee maker to hold coffee pods tea, sugar, etc. for easy access.
The upper shelving is perfect to hold all of our favorite cups and glassware, including some serving pieces too. Because I tend to hoard things, I find that if I have easy access and can see my stuff I’ll use it more often, so this display will work well for me. Maybe next time I’m lured by the beauty of a coffee mug I’ll be able to resist it, since it’s obvious I really don’t need even one more. Fun fact, I don’t actually drink coffee anymore! I do love a sip or two of hot chocolate though, which reminds me, I can’t wait to add a little hot chocolate bar to the space for the winter season!
Friends, I don’t think I love any other part of my home as much as I love this coffee bar. I drew inspiration for the design from the many different European kitchens I’ve seen online over the years. I love the simplicity, beauty, and function they represent, and I’ve been trying to capture that style in the makeovers we’ve done over the past few years, like our pantry, our laundry room, and our powder room, which I haven’t shared on the blog yet, but I hope to soon! This particular piece is my favorite, by far, for many reasons though. For starters, my husband worked his tail off to build this piece for me. Carpentry isn’t something he loves, but he sure does a good job at it these days, and I am so thankful for his efforts. We work as a team to assemble the pieces together, and I do what I can by finishing off the piece, with sanding, staining, painting, caulking, and all that jazz, but since I can’t be around the saw, due to my ears, I leave that to him, and he’s done a spectacular job cutting all the pieces to size, building me doors and drawers, and installing them. It’s all the things I don’t care to do myself, or can’t do due to my ears, so again, I applaud his efforts and appreciate that he gave up his weekends and some week nights to help me get this done. Seeing how good it turned out genuinely makes me more excited for the pieces we’re building for the dining area!
I can’t fail to mention that I feel lucky that I’ve had the opportunity to do this sort of addition/makeover during these times. I know it’s not exactly timely, but we felt it was doable, so we went for it. Remember friends, the internet shows you only a snippet of the truth of all situations. Never let it lead you to feeling unfulfilled, unsatisfied, or less than. My hope is that you find inspiration in what you see here on my blog, and that it motivates you to try things for yourself, on your timeline. No pressure!
Well, that’s all for now! I hope you’ll check back in with us for more makeovers, and design inspiration. We’re in full-on Christmas mode these days, and because I have no chill, I have already decorated the coffee bar, so I’ll share that in my upcoming tour too!
Thanks again for stopping by! Take care of yourselves!

Thank you! It’s made the process much more enjoyable, having a space dedicated to it and out of the way of other activities.
