Decorate Your Mantel: A Christmas Mantel
Things are coming along around here regarding our holiday decorating! I had pieces of the mantel up for our last post, but just recently put the final touches on it for the season. Join me today in getting a closer look at my mantel, as well as a few other blogging friend’s mantels, for the Decorate Your Mantel series, hosted by Amy of My Life from Home. It’ll be fun!
Because we usually set our tree up next to our mantel, I like to keep it simple and complementary to the tree style. See more of our tree here.
Hanging a wreath over a mirror is a simple way to make it more festive. I found this beautiful faux wreath at Marshall’s, and it’s the perfect size for our round mirror above the mantel.
Drawing inspiration from the tree ornaments, I placed two stackable brass boxes onto the mantel. I grouped them with a couple bottle brush tress in different colors along with a “garland” of greenery with white berries. These are actually just sprays of greenery that I placed along the top of the mantel, instead of going the extra mile and disassembling them to make a real garland. This way I can reuse them next year, if I’d like, in an arrangement!
Having been drawn to cozy knits recently, I was super excited when I found these faux-fur topped knit stocking at Hobby Lobby in various colors, especially the green! I just had to have them for our family. I hung them with simple brass stocking holders that I also picked up at Hobby Lobby. I bet you can find a lot of these things on sale right now!
The opposite side of the mantel is finished off with a couple more bottle brush trees. I just wanted something simple so that it wouldn’t visually compete with tree as it is directly next to this side of the mantel.
To complete the look, I have our mailbox for letters for Santa, and our newest addition to the family, our stuffed dog. We’re not ready for a real one just yet.
Now it’s time to visit the other participant’s blogs to see more about their mantels! They look beautiful, and I know you’re going to enjoy them!
Happy Holidays, friends!

Your mantel looks so pretty, and is a great complement to your tree! I really like how you created the “garland” — such a smart way to use sprays of greenery!
