DIY Halloween Posable Ghostly Figure
I’m all for a quick purchase doing the job, but sometimes I want something custom to finish my overall vision for a space. Especially when I’m decorating for Halloween! Over the years, I have grown to desire a decorated space that tells a story, rather than popping in “Halloween” decorations to my space. To clarify, there isn’t anything wrong with either approach to holiday decorating, so please do what you prefer, but if you are more like me, here’s an idea that I think you’ll enjoy and be able to use year after year.
Last season’s story depicted a ghostly figure lurking in our living room. Everything centered around this idea, so it was important that I was as perfect as I could make it. I looked up a few ready-made figures available on the market, but all were too ghoulish for my vision. That left me with a dilemma. Do I go against my vision, or do I DIY something instead? Of course, I chose to DIY, so I set out to find all of the pieces to make my ghostly figure come to life. Here is the outcome! Pretty spooky, right?
Here are all the pieces I used….(affiliate links*)
The posable form was key to making this read as lifelike. A white haired wig added to the insinuation that this was in fact a real ghostly figure in our space. The fact that the form is on a stand also worked for me as I didn’t want legs for my figure, but rather a floating figure. Even still, I didn’t want the stand to show, so I found a white dress to drape over the figure form, and for an added effect I found a white tulle cloak to top it all off with. It quickly took on the form of my dreams, and the cost for all the pieces came out to about the same any of the premade figures I had come across.
I look forward to using this figure again and again! The best part is that I can change costumes and create a number of characters going forward. All worth the effort and cost, in my opinion.
I hope you like it too! Don’t forget to Pin and share this post if you get a chance.

That looks really effective. I don’t think I could do it because it would give me a jump scare every time I went into the room!

Ha, yes good point! I did give myself a little scare here and there while it was out.
