Fall Mantel Styling
Once the fall candles started to burn, I couldn’t resist the itch to start decorating around the house. Luckily the mantel is done, because I’ve joined a group of wonderful bloggers today, to share a variety of ideas of how to decorate your mantel for fall. You’re really going to love what you see, so be sure to click through to each of the links below.
I can think back to when I started blogging and was obsessed with decorating my mantel for each season. I would go wild, and at the time, that was my vibe. Now though, I decorate with a simpler look that still conveys the intended message. It’s possible! Especially when you use a few special pieces that call attention, and complement them with something simple. I pulled a little ink well from my vintage collection, mixed it with a vintage sketch that I framed in a wooden frame, and added a feather and simple faux pumpkin to the mix. The textures from the glass, wood, ceramic, and paper are visually interesting and pleasing. I knew I was done with that side of the mantel once I added in the feather. I wanted to offset that vignette with something simple but again, complementary so I used a small black vase that I recently picked up at the store, and added a hand-full of bleached peacock feathers. I kept the length for dramatics, and oh boy does it look good!
When I got to the bottom of the fireplace I chose to fill the space with a metal planter full of faux fall florals mixed in with my faux fiddle leaf fig. It’s so cute, and I love that I looks like I collected all the fall florals and casually placed them into the metal planter for storage. We don’t get real fall foliage for a while around here, so there’s no shame in using faux. Do what you have to do to make it work!
So what do you think? Have you decorated your mantel for fall yet? What’s your style this year? Share with me in the comments!

I really love the simplicity here. Those bleached peacock feathers seriously bring on the wow factor! I feel like whenever I try to go simplistic, it looks like I’ve forgotten to finish decorating. I’ll have to remember to channel your mix of textures and thoughtfully-chosen pieces.

Thank you, Emily! I found those feathers on sale a few years ago at Hobby Lobby for around ten cents each. It was a major find, and I am so glad I pulled them out again this year. It’s taken a couple of years to really get an eye for styling with a simpler approach. I’m so happy to hear from you that it’s working! 🙂

Those faux florals in with the fiddle leaf fig totally caught my eye! What a great mix to add in there. I like the simple approach for sure. I used to go nuts with banners and stuff all over the place and now I feel like “aaaah! Who has time for that?” Very beautiful!

Thank you, Bre! I was looking at old posts from seasons past, and I honestly can’t see myself collecting or buying that much stuff to decorate with anymore. I must have driven myself crazy trying to create layer after layer of stuff! Haha!

Absolutely breathtaking, Iris! I love the serenity of the neutral shades and the unexpectedness of the feather. Fall is creeping up on us ever so silently. It’s my favorite time of year!
Iris says
Awe, thank you Kim! I’m so excited for it too. Even though I enjoy Summer, I am always wishing for cooler days, especially because I have a sweater collection that is calling my name. Here’s hoping we get a few days around here! 🙂

I love how simple, calm, and sleek this mantel display is! Very beautiful. I can imagine many nights around that fireplace this fall!

Thank you, Amy! That would be lovely, if only we lit a fire in it! I’m making it my goal to actually do it this year, because you’re right, it would be so nice!
