Fireplace Surround (Week 5-ORC)
Hi there, friends! I’m a bit behind on this week’s update, but for good reason. We finished the fireplace! My arms are dead tired from grouting, and painting yesterday and this morning, but I’m happy it’s done! Here’s a quick look at the process. Sorry for the crappy iphone pictures. These are the best I could capture while working on the space.
I’m holding space for the possibility of painting the surround a different color before the room is complete. I need to see it all pulled together before I decide. Maybe it’s the gloomy weather today that’s making the White Dove paint color seem a bit bland instead of as creamy as it normally is in our space. We will see, and I’ll let you know if I do decide to make any changes.
Aside from the work on the fireplace, you might see a hint in the photos, that we have the bookcases in the room now. They aren’t complete, as we have to stain the doors and install them, but we’re almost done with that too, and I’ll share the process for the build of those in an upcoming post.
Now we will move on to the next task, which is painting the walls to match the current wall color. Again, White Dove, is the main wall color throughout our home. That means we are SO close to be done with this makeover! Okay, I know, I still have to sew the slipcover for the sectional. I think I’m in denial about it, but it looks like I’ll get started on it very soon. I hope it goes well, because I’m ready to relax and enjoy our summer vacation lounging in this space with my beautiful family. Hope to see y’all back here for more updates next week!

Oh my gosh- this looks incredible! Saving for later- our living room desperately needs a more custom looking fireplace!

You did a great job! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together. I’m hesitant about paint choices too until I see more progress in my bathroom.
