Matchstick Holder-Create and Share Challenge
Hey there! It’s time for this month’s Create and Share Challenge! If you aren’t familiar with the Create and Share Challenge, it’s a challenge hosted by my friends Stephanie, of Casa Watkins Living, and Cat of Pocketful of Posies, where a group of us get together on one topic each month and create our hearts out to bring you many different crafty points of view on it. Candles were this month’s topic, and having seen little matchstick holders like this for sale recently, I thought it would be a good DIY project to share with y’all today!
It’s actually really simple. Is anyone catching on that I love to make and share simple crafts? Haha!
Here’ what you’ll need to make your own:
- Clear glass/plastic container (Be sure your matches will fit inside.)
- Matches
- Matchbox Strike Strip
- Super Glue
- “Matchstick” Label I designed using gold foil. (Found here on Cricut Design Space)
Assembly is simple! Apply the label to the container, and fill your container with matches. You’re probably wondering about the strike, right? Simply cut a piece off from your matchbox and glue it to the bottom of the bottle. Easy enough, and it’s hidden from site!
I think these matchstick bottles would make a beautiful DIY gift for the upcoming holiday. Pair it with a yummy smelling candle, and you can’t go wrong!
Until next time friends!

So pretty and such a great idea, Iris! Much better than those big ugly boxes they come in!
