Mini Makeover-Master Bath
You know when you move into a new house, and your itching to make it your own? Well we are getting there in this house, even if it’s three years after moving in. My latest DIY project was for our master bath, toilet closet. It had been left pretty much empty for quite a while, other than a fairly successful Pottery Barn recreation of a hanging basket holder. That piece quickly became a dust collector, and I regretted ever spending the money on it as soon as I figured out that it wasn’t going to be as functional as I had hoped.
Fast forward to this past week. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to create something, and I knew just what I wanted to do. Shelves for the toilet closet! Now, I’ve seen a ton of tutorials for floating shelves, thanks to Pinterest, but my mind works in a weird mad scientist sort of way, so I ended up coming up with my own process. I have plans to share a tutorial here on the blog soon, but for now, I am so excited about the outcome that I just have to share the final product with you all today!
Of course I turned to my favorite trifecta of stores, HomeGoods, TJMaxx, and Marshall’s to find functional pieces to decorate the shelves with. Throw in a few pieces I already own, and a Target Dollar Spot basket, and I was able to call it a day!
I think just about every room in my house has some coastal décor in it now. What can I say, I long for the days of laying around on the beach relaxing, and being carefree. For a momma of a toddler, it’s a good reminder of calmer times.
Across from the shelves I made are a couple more pictures I took on my beach vacations throughout the years. The other two are on the shelves. I just amped up the saturation on the photo and had them printed at Target. They had been hanging in the main area of the bathroom for about a year, but I recently replaced them with new art. I enjoy the scenes so much though, I just had to find a place for them. Below the pictures, on the floor, I have my new hamper. I am in love with it! Is that weird to say about a laundry hamper? I added the shell purely for decoration. I think it’ll find a new home soon somewhere in the main area of the bathroom. Oh, and trying to take a picture of that side of the closet call for a contortionist! I am not all that flexible, so I just staged the picture to show you the effect of it all.
Since I had one basket left to use I figured it would be a great basket to place on the back of the toilet. It houses a few extra rolls of toilet paper, since most of it is on the top shelf.
So there you have it! A mini makeover in my master bathroom. As always, I appreciate you taking the time to visit the blog. You may notice we have changed things up a bit here. I finally got my own domain name! Yay! I would have never done it, if it weren’t for all of your support. I hope you enjoy the new site. Please feel free to leave me comments about what you think about the new layout, and if you experienced any technical difficulties. WordPress is new to me, and I think I might have used up more than half my brain cells trying to figure it out, but I’m determined to make this the best site I can. Again, thank you all so much for visiting the blog!

Thank you, Deborah! I figured I might as well take the plunge now and see how well I do. It’ll give me an idea about paying more for a site in the future too, so that’s nice. Oh and I’m glad you found the comments. I almost missed them, myself! Haha!
