Our 2022 Holiday Home-Christmas Tree in the Dining Room
I’m writing this up on Christmas day, because we’ve been taking time off to spend the days together as a family. That means watching holiday movies, playing games, baking cookies, taking naps, and thoroughly enjoying life without commitment to anything but each other. If you ever have a chance to do it, I suggest you take advantage of it.
Our Christmas Tree this year is decorated with a mixture of vintage and DIY ornaments. I painted all of the ceramic black ball ornaments, pulling inspiration from Norwegian Rosemaling painting techniques. They are absolutely beautiful, and I hope to have a few sets for sell next year. They set the tone for an old world styled tree. Isn’t it beautiful! I found my other ornaments either in my own collection or at vintage and craft stores. The combo is relaxing, but draws the eye around the tree, which is key. The topper came as a surprise, being a cherub ornament, I had intended to use as a tabletop decoration, but once the rest of the ornaments were on the tree, it felt right to top it with this cutie.
We placed our new-to-us vintage cabinet in the dining room around Thanksgiving this year. We found it on Marketplace, and though this isn’t the final spot for it, it looks beautiful next to our tree, and decorated with faux garland and a tapestry ribbon. I’m so glad we are going to be able to experience this beautiful piece of furniture in so many spaces in our home!
I never really got around to creating a tablescape, and since were taking it slow around here, I didn’t want to push myself to do it either. I had such grand and beautiful plans, but I think the simplicity of the table runner that ended up on the table last night for our dinner, does enough to complement the overall decor.
If you are celebrating today as well, Merry Christmas. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope your day and week are just as cozy and fulfilling as mine has been.
I’ll probably pop in here one more time before the end of the year, so I’ll talk to you soon. If you’re looking forward to next year and what we have in store, we plan to participate in my friend Stephanie’s New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge. If you’ve been following for a while, I try to do it each year that I can. It always gets my year going, and at least a project finished, and I have a couple that I have in mind to share for the challenge. I’ll reveal more soon.
