Our 2022 Holiday Home: Family Room Styling
I’m cutting it close, sharing our family room with y’all right before Christmas. The funny thing about it, is that this room was the first room I decorated! It has been a month, y’all! If you visit my Instagram, you can read all about it.
Since the open bookcases flank the fireplace, I didn’t want to overwhelm the space with too much holiday decor. As you can see, it can feel a bit messy if you do too much, and I am toeing the line.
Fireplace
I opted for a simple mix of wooden and faux garland to drape across the fireplace, and accented them with a long skinny velvet bow. I hand embroidered the linen stockings with a holly berry and leaf design. I found a similar mass produced stocking that I didn’t feel was in my budget to splurge on, so I made my own. It was a fun project, and gave me an opportunity to work on a new skill.
The sconces above the fireplace, hold two small wreaths, found at HomeGoods in the fall. They were my first purchase for this space, and inspired the color story.
Bookcase
A while ago, I came across the two wooden Santa figures tucked away behind some random piece of decor in an antiques shop. I knew they’d be perfect holiday additions to the bookshelves. And to keep the overall look minimal, the only other holiday decor that I added to the bookcases were the two ceramic houses on the opposite side. A simple nod to a Christmas village.
Coffee Table
The only other holiday addition to the space, are the three wooden trees on the coffee table. I simply shifted the existing decor around, switched out the candle for a different candle and added the three trees.
Well, that’s our holiday family room this year! I hope you enjoyed the tour!
