Our 2022 Holiday Home: Living Room Styling
The year is coming to a close, and though the last couple of months have brought unexpected challenges to our family, we are making the most of it, and enjoying our time together.
I had grand plans for our holiday decor, and though things shifted a bit, overall, I am so happy with how calm and inviting our spaces have turned out. We still have some building materials, specifically uninstalled baseboards, hanging out in our living room , so we opted to place our tree in the dining room instead. It’s made meals more magical, and honestly, the living room feels much less cluttered this way.
My plan to use beautiful ribbon throughout my decor (see my last post) lead me down a rabbit hole of amazing options on Etsy, and I don’t regret one minute spent searching for the perfect ones. Originally, I had planned to use the ribbon on our mantel, on a DIY wreath. I actually made the wreath, and opted to use a different ribbon once I saw how beautiful this one was with our new garland on the mantel. I just doesn’t get any better! The asymmetrical swag of the garland sort of just happened as I was working with it, and then the layers of ribbon and bells sealed the deal for me. It’s quite stunning in person. I put a lot of effort into hand-stitching designs into some of our existing stockings, and in their imperfection I found beauty, and something I can actually look back on in years and feel accomplished over.
I found a couple of bags of tassels at the thrift store, and had originally planed to use the on our tree, but ended up hanging them from the built-in instead. Simple, and festive! The bowl of pinecones, brass bells, and my favorite find from a couple of years ago, the cow bells, are simple winter/holiday additions to the rest of the coffee table elements.
The console table came together easily, with the addition of a wooden candelabra, holding a few beeswax candles. A simple dried pod cluster ornament, and the tied bows on the sconces, using a tan velvet scalloped ribbon. The scallops felt very on trend, and honestly if it weren’t on my walls, it would have ended up being hoarded, because I couldn’t let go of it. Haha!
Next up our family room, and our dining room. I’ll have them all posted by the end of the week. With a dog just out of surgery, it’ll be a challenge, but I’m excited to to share, so it’s worth the effort. Hope to see you all back here, then!
Happy holidays, friends!
