A Picnic Style Tablescape
Hey there friends! I’m wishing you all here in the USA, a happy upcoming Independence Day! We are probably going to celebrate around the house again this year. We’re that family that likes to avoid the crowds, and you may have heard me talk about the amazing fireworks display we get from the surrounding neighbors and neighborhoods right from our balcony, so we never miss out on the fun. I truly never want to move and lose this particular perk from our home.
To prepare for the big day, I’ve been playing around with some of my favorite picnic style serving pieces, and decor, to create a tablescape we can all enjoy. I imagine we will have hot dogs, or some sort of BBQ and appetizers on that day, as well as s’mores, since I finally made myself one and am now obsessed. Yum! The mix of the metal wire food baskets with the gingham paper plates, and cloth chambray napkins gives the overall ambiance a very casual, but elegant look. A simple floral arrangement looks great with surrounding serving pieces as a centerpiece.
High/low is my favorite mix for holiday decorating and entertaining. It doesn’t have to cost a lot to get the look, and have people ooh and aah over what you’ve done. I especially like to invest in pieces that I can use over and over again, like the above mentioned food baskets. In addition to places like Home Goods and Target, check your local thrift stores for even more amazing finds. Last year I came across two sets of bamboo serving trays that were being sold retail for six times the price! They are perfect for indoor/outdoor entertaining, and would be amazing in this type of setup too. Of course most vintage pieces have already withstood the test of time, so if you’re not really hard on your stuff you can probably make it work for you for many more years. If you want to switch up the look and want an even more casual look, I know that you can find plastic food baskets at your local dollar stores, and Target has some currently being sold in the Bullseye’s Playground in a few fun colors.
Hope y’all have a wonderful holiday, friends!
