Porch Refresh Reveal
It’s reveal day, and thanks to Bed Bath & Beyond, I actually have a fully done space to share with y’all! The New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge is the push I need to get going on projects in the new year. It was pretty obvious about two weeks ago though, when my whole family came down with a viral illness, that we wouldn’t be done with the interior sections of this challenge. Remember we started with the hopes that we would finish our entryway, and stairway makeover. We did have good intentions to give it a go though! It just wasn’t in the cards. We will be picking up where we left off this week, and hope to have a finished space within the next month. I’ll be sure to keep up with our progress and share the reveal once it’s done.
Our porch looked pretty dismal for a good year, because I just couldn’t bring myself to put any effort into it. The plants were dead or dying, the bench we had before, wasn’t very inspiring anymore, and honestly I just walked past it all day after day, with a sigh of disappointment, but not motivation. That happens sometimes, and it’s a funk that takes a while for me to get out of. When the idea of working with Bed Bath & Beyond came to my attention, I knew it would be a great opportunity to refresh this space, and make it my dream porch.
A rustic, patinaed European garden vibe is my goal, and so I set out to create that for us. We started by removing all of the old elements. Goodbye old planters and dead plants! Goodbye uninspiring bench! Make way for these new beauties!
Our new bench fits like a glove against the stone wall. Almost as if it were made for it! The spindle backing, gives it the flare that our old bench was missing, and I love it! I knew immediately that I wanted to pair it with a small green metal table, and found the perfect one with little effort. I got to thinking about the type of planters I wanted to incorporate, because my overall vision is for the jasmine planted in them to grow up and along the stone over the years. I know this is going to be a challenge, because like I said before, our plants tend to die on this porch, but with I think this is going to be the exception. The fact that I have an array of planters that I have collected over the years just sitting in a pile in my backyard made it pretty easy to choose something similar so that I could mix them in, to create the garden vibe. I picked two different planters. One medium sized terracotta planter with a scalloped detail, and one smaller patinaed planter as an accent pot. They fit right in with my existing planters, and without pointing them out, I wonder if you would have known which were new and which were old.
Can you see the vision come to life? I hope so, and I really hope that the jasmine lives and grows, and we end up with the lived in European garden style porch that I desire. I’ll keep you posted!
Thank you again to Stephanie, of Casa Watkins Living, for hosting and inviting me to be a part of the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge, and thank you to Bed Bath & Beyond for sponsoring this post. It wouldn’t have gotten done without the two of you!
Please take some time to see the revealed spaces of my fellow challenge participants. Everyone worked so hard!
