Simple Craft: Halloween Cheesecloth Ghost/Console Styling
It doesn’t have to be difficult. It doesn’t have to be expensive. I doesn’t have to be stressful! In fact, it can be simple, enjoyable, and fulfilling! Something I haven’t felt, in combination about decorating for Halloween in many years, but this year is different. Things around here are a bit jumbled and behind, and even though I’ve brain stormed many different ideas for our Halloween decorations this year, I haven’t had the chance to really put any of them into motion. I did get a wild hair recently, to attempt a little Halloween craft for fun, and with the simplest of supplies and effort these cute little gauze ghosts were born. Styling them on our living room console was the obvious choice, and with a few additions, like the cheesecloth “cobwebs”, and small plastic spiders, this little scene came to. I love it, and hope you do too!
Simple Craft: Halloween Cheesecloth Ghost
This little craft is so simple, it doesn’t require a visual tutorial! Follow these simple steps, and enjoy your spooky new Halloween decorations!
Supplies: Cheesecloth, Mod Podge, Foam Ball, Wooden Dowel, Paint Brush
Step 1: Cut your cheesecloth to size. Mine is about 20″ long. Distress the ends to create a more rustic look.
Step 2: Paint the cheesecloth with your favorite Mod Podge. Set this aside as you prepare the form in the next step.
Step 3: Skewer your foam ball with the wooden dowel to resemble a lollypop. (No need to permanently attach the foam to the wood as this will come apart later.
Step 4: Drape your cheesecloth painted with Mod Podge over the top of the foam ball. You will need a cup or a sturdy surface to place the dowel into while drying. I used a cup, and it worked well. Let this dry overnight.
Step 5: Once dry, remove the now stiff cheesecloth from the foam and dowel form. You can now manipulate the shape, as it should be mailable still.
Step 6: Style and enjoy!
