Spring Dining Room Refresh
Hi there, friends! I thought I’d pop onto the blog today to share a little refresh of our dining room this spring. This space has come so far over the last few years. I especially love the built-in cabinetry we added to the room, since it holds all of my extra entertaining pieces, and double as a banquet for parties. One day I’ll have to go into the whole process of how it all came about. You’d be surprised to know that it was a budget friendly addition, as long as you like a little bit of DIY.
You probably notice that we’re missing a rug under the table and chairs right now. We can all thank our puppy for that. Not only did he chew on it, he thought it was a landing pad for potty time, so out it went, and until we can get his mishaps under control, we will probably be living without one. It’s not too terrible though, because I can see every crumb and speck of dirt so easily on the tile, I end up vacuuming it up daily. I hate to admit it, but I don’t think our floor have ever been so clean!
A refresh of a space doesn’t have to take a lot of effort. Switching out art, and adding a new centerpiece can make a world of difference in the overall look of the space. One of my favorite pieces of art is sitting on the shelf, and it draws my attention each time I’m in the room. It was a recent find at a local antique shop, and would you believe it cost me less than $10! I was immediately drawn to the scene, but mostly because of the colors. It reminds me of a beautiful Texas sunset, which is something we all need to experience in our lifetime. I’m just lucky enough to see it daily.
One specific styling choice I made to keep the space light and airy, which is so springy to me, is to display quite a bit of my glass pieces along the shelf, and keep the focal point mostly on the table’s centerpiece. For the centerpiece I used a fresh green and white color palette, which I carried through to the placemats, and even the glassware. Since they are all different textures they don’t overwhelm the space with a repetitive color. I tend to like to keep placemats and coasters out on the table for two reasons. One, we are messy. Okay, the “we” is actually our son, but all of us have been known to make a good mess of the table. Two, it’s pretty, and fills in all the negative space. A very superficial reason, but if you are like me and your mood is contingent on your visual surroundings, it can make a difference.
For the sake of pretty pictures, I managed to take a shot of the left side of the space, that doesn’t include our coffee station. It’s hidden behind the flowers, but honestly it is the most functional and used space in here. So why am I even mentioning it if it isn’t pictured? Well we recently got a new Keurig, after our old one went haywire on us. It had a digital screen that was so messed up we couldn’t even get the machine to turn on half the time. We now have the Keurig K-Cafe, and it’s wonderful! I just had to share they new with y’all, in case anyone reading has been considering getting one. It’s worth it, and now is a great time to pick one up, because they are on sale via the link below!
Well friends, that’s all from me for now. I do have a few home projects in the works, like a guest bedroom, master bedroom refresh, home office refresh, and a laundry room makeover. I hope to share those with y’all over the next few months, because we all know that once the holidays roll around, I’m going to be busy scheming up new decorating ides for that.
