St. Patrick’s Day Mantel
St. Patrick’s Day has always been a fun day to celebrate for me. Probably not in the way that you are thinking though, since I don’t drink. I have fond memories of when I was little, preparing to go to school on St. Patrick’s Day. We would always have to find something for me to wear that was green. Unfortunately I never got a pass from other kids, even though my eyes are green. Any green eyed people ever try to get away with that excuse? Anyhoo, Grandpa and I would search the house, but sometimes I just couldn’t find anything to my liking. I was such a picky child. Actually, I’m still picky, but that’s besides the point. Haha! The one thing that always made the cut though, was a cute little leprechaun pin that had little lights that lit up in rainbow colors. I was always fascinated by that thing, though I think it seemed old fashioned to the other kids. Oh well! Hopefully one day I’ll run across it again, because I’d love to share it with Rordan when he is older. For now though, decorating the house will have to do. I switched up the mantel pretty easily using items I already own, and making a tassel banner out of yarn that I recently found at Hobby Lobby. How do you like my take on a “pot of gold”? Haha! Luckily, it took all of five minutes to put away and add the new items, so I’m sure it will be the same when I decorate it for Spring. I feel like I’m constantly changing up the mantel, and I guess truly I am, but hey, it’s a fun and easy way to keep it fresh!
So are you planning on decorating for St. Patrick’s Day, or is it one of those holidays you skip? Let me know in the comments below!
