Summer at Home 2022
Summer Arts and Crafts
Happy Summer! It’s been a wonderful start to summer around here. I hope the same for you. With no real plans to go anywhere for vacation, we’re making the most of our free time, spending time as a family doing fun activities, and relaxing when time allows. I’m focusing on honing a few new skills, one being painting, which I’m doing with our son. His paintings are bright and bold, while I’m focusing on a more realistic take. It’ll be interesting to see how we both evolve over the next couple of months. I’ve found I prefer watercolor, but hope to find satisfaction in oils just as much, soon. I’ve also started to learn about embroidery, which is going well. I really enjoy the process, and look forward to seeing how far I take it.
Home Projects
As for home projects, we’ve been working on our kitchen for the last couple of months. I see it being done near the end of summer, if tile shipping allows. I’ll start posting about that soon, because as with most of our projects, if I did it in real-time you’d probably get bored.
Our pantry is going to get a little refresh, mostly paint and reorganizing what we have in there. That’ll probably be something I start working on in my spare time over the next couple of weeks. Since it’s a smaller project it’ll be easier to cover as I do it, so look out for that over on my Instagram account, as well as a reveal post here.
Once the kitchen is done, we’d like to work on our master bathroom. I haven’t committed to a design for it yet though, but we have time, and my brain is always scheming, so I should have something by the time we start the project.
Antiquing/Thrifting
I’m hoping to venture out a bit more this summer, to see what treasures the surrounding towns have to offer in the way of antiquing. I love a good find! I have a treasure-trove of things already, but maybe one day I’ll sell some of my finds. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the hunt, and I really couldn’t ask for more.
Holiday Planning
You read that right. I’m already planning themes for the holidays this year. Starting with Halloween, which I have a fun idea for, and no, I’m not sharing it yet, but I think you’ll enjoy it! And of course ending with Christmas, which I haven’t pinpointed exactly how I want to decorate, but that is the fun, finding inspiration as time flows by that leads me to the final results.
A Poem
Summer Afternoon
Brush to canvas, scratch-scratch.
Instrumental music quietly playing along.
The day ours to take advantage of as we please.
Oh, what a lovely summer day it is with you, my son.

Creative Summer
It’s a creative summer as you can see. I couldn’t ask for more. I have a feeling as slow moving as it may seem day to day, it’ll fly by, so I’m going to soak it all in.
Enjoy your summer, friends, and please check back in with us to see what progress we’ve made with our projects.
