Wednesday Wish List-Wisteria (Autumn Decor & How to Get the Look for Less!)
I’m back with this week’s Wednesday Wish List! Sorry I missed last week, but editing the Home Depot Style Challenge pictures and post took up most of my time, so I figured one week off wouldn’t hurt.
With Fall drawing near, I thought it would be fun to create a mood board showcasing items from Wisteria.com, as I would put them together for the season. As a bonus I’m sharing how I would recreate this look for less, because let’s face it, we all love to save money when we can!
I imagine this setup could be found anywhere in your home. At first glance I think an entryway, but I could see this being a beautiful addition to a bedroom, dining room, or living room too.
So how can you get this look yourself? Well, aside from purchasing all of these items directly from Wisteria, which I highly encourage you to do if you find it affordable, I suggest doing a bit of bargain hunting around your town, and on the net. That’s what I do!
Start with your local thrift stores. You would be amazed at what you can find, and at the prices too! A silly fact about me: I used to be plagued with germaphobia with the thought of even entering a thrift store, but as I’ve seen so many wonderful finds being shared, I decided I needed to break through my fears and get to thrifting myself. After a few visits to my local stores, I was able to walk in without panic. Thank goodness too, because I’ve found some great stuff now that I have!
Back to the point though. Although the chest of drawers pictured above are gorgeous, and I want them in my life ASAP, I know shelling out $900 for one piece of furniture is beyond my reach. I would instead search for similar looking piece at a thrift store, and do my best to repaint it to get the look. With a ton of tutorials floating around on how to refinish/paint furniture, I bet you could accomplish this task fairly easily, although I would suggest practicing a bit first.
You could also visit the many flash sale sites available to you on the internet. Joss & Main is one of my favorites as you might know, and has a wonderful selection of furniture at discounted prices!
As for the art, I can’t help but think of birds when I think of Autumn. With feathers, being presented at every turn around this time of year, it’s hard not to! That’s why I was compelled to create a gallery wall using pieces from Wisteria’s “Bird Salon” of wall art. They have quite a few more images for you to choose from, so take a look if you have a moment. Again, if the price is holding you back, do what I tend to do this time of year, and visit The Graphics Fairy for free printable images. You could recreate the look by using white picture frames from Target, to frame your printed images, and come out with a very similar look, and a much smaller cost.
Stemming from there, I lean towards using natural elements this time of year. Maybe it’s because I’m coming off of my coral high of Summer, or maybe because I am surrounding myself with dried florals, and nature is talking to me though them, but stones, petrified wood, etc., always seem to catch my eye. If these particular pieces don’t tickle your fancy, then I suggest visiting your local HomeGoods/TJ Maxx for other options. I always see beautiful pieces floating around there. Be on the lookout for the little riser stool, similar pillows, a mirror, and table lamp too. HomeGoods is always my go to place for items such as those. I bet more than 80% of my house is made up of HomeGoods items!
If you are feeling crafty, the fruit pictured, could easily be recreated using plastic fruit from Hobby Lobby, and craft paint. It’ll be fun to recreate, so go for it!
And finally, the overhead lighting. I’m going to be honest here, and say that this is one of the places I believe in splurging, if you can. With a price tag at nearly $400, this pendant lantern is a steal! I’d have it in my cart today if I needed one!
I hope this has helped you get an insight into recreating your own space using higher end products as inspiration. It’s the process I’ve used throughout the past year, and so far I’ve bee extremely pleased with what I’ve been able to accomplish using it. I’d love to know what you think, and if you do the same! Let me know in the comments below!
