A New Year (Project List & Resolutions)
Hello, and happy new year! Oh boy was 2016 taxing, which is why I’m determined to make 2017 better in all the ways that I can control. I’ve been thinking about those things, and here’s a few that I’ve come up with.
First off, I must be more organized. Living through the kitchen renovation, starting the dining room renovation right after, and then thinking that I needed to decorate for every holiday from October-December has left our house looking like something from a Hoarders episode. Seriously, I think renovations should come with a warning, because I was not expecting the setbacks, and delays that I had no control over, and I most certainly did not expect to not have it all done before the end of the year! Yikes! So yes, this year everything in my life must be more organized. To add to that, this blog is going to get more organized as well. I haven’t worked out all of the details, but I hope it will be easier to navigate in the near future.
Another thing I am vowing to do this year is to focus more on family time, and not let all the extras take away from it. I tend to get wrapped up in the details of everything else, all the while forgetting to really take in the beauty of my life. One thing in particular is that I am able to stay home with my son while he is little, and get to play a huge role in his development. I think I may be suffering from a bit of “mommy guilt” looking back at how I handled some things these past few years. Depression can really wreak havoc on a person and their life plans. I’m just glad to be in a good place right now, and pray that I can use this peace for the betterment of my relationships. With Rordan being four now, and not in any schooling programs, I decided that I needed to get it together. I’ve developed a plan for some at-home schooling, that I can’t wait to put it into motion. I also hope to take him on some “field trips” around town, which I hope will help out with his socialization skills. I’ll do my best to share the progress with you all here on the blog.
I’ve also been thinking about how I’ve neglected myself over the last few years, and how I’m ready to get back to my old self. Again, depression does wonders, and now that I’m feeling better I want to do all that I can to take advantage of it. During the holidays, John and I purchased a new exercise machine for the house. I’m making it a point to have it placed in the family room upstairs so that I can use it at all times of the day. No excuses that I “don’t have the time” anymore! We’re also hoping to cook more meals at home and cut out the unnecessary and excessive take out meals. I’ve been pinning a ton of good recipes to try out, as well as daily workouts. I’m thinking we just might actually stick with the plan this time, as both John and I are tired of feeling tied and unhealthy due to our diets. We know a lifestyle change is necessary in order to reach our goals, and we seem to be on the same page finally. Praying it all works out!
Whew, that was a lot, but only just a few of my goals for the year! I won’t bore you with more though. Instead I’m going to share our project list for 2017! We’re going to be busy, but it should be interesting for you and I at least!

Wow, your 2017 projects list is huge! I’m planning on tackling 2 rooms this year and already I’m thinking of postponing one of them … you need to write a post about your time management so I can copy whatever you’re doing! Can’t wait to see your progress throughout the year – it’s going to be fabulous! xx

Haha, yeah it is! I feel like having gone through the renovations that we did last year, I NEED to get these done this year, which is why I am challenging myself to get it all done. The fact that I can stay at home right now will help with some of it, such as the painting, and smaller projects that I’d be in charge of. We will be hiring out the bigger work, like tiling, since my husband isn’t all that into DIY, and I don’t think I could take it all on myself. So we will see if it actually all gets done, or if I make it through just a few. Crossing my fingers for the both of us!
