Laundry Room Refresh: What’s that paint again?
Welcome back, friends! We spent most of last week trying to figure out what paint color we used on the walls in the laundry room a few years back, so that we could touch up the room as well as add a new piece to the shelving. Let’s just say that though we use a lot of White Dove in our home, we have used it in so many combinations and sheens that we couldn’t figure out exactly which until Sunday night. Of course the process to figure this out, was testing any and all cans of paint and samples that we’ve collected over the last couple of years. That’s a lot of paint! During the search, I found a can of the door paint we used to paint the outside of the door that faces the kitchen. Feeling pretty sure about my written “door” notation on the outside of the can I painted both doors to the room. It’s amazing what a little paint can do to make something old feel new and fresh! I shouldn’t be surprised, but honestly, every time I paint something I’m reminded of it.
I’m a bit embarrassed about not notating the paint color, in this room especially. About a year ago I decided I needed to finish painting the ceiling, which was half painted from our original push to refresh this space. I started painting and quickly realized I had made a mistake with the color. It wasn’t a match at all. I ended up painting the whole room again with this new color, since I had a big can available at the time, and didn’t want to mess with figuring out what color I originally used. This is why I’m still trying to figure out if it is in fact White Dove and not some similar color. I’m scared to find out, but I’m going for it soon, and I’ll update you all, here.
Hardware
With the doors painted, we can finally install our new door hardware! We’re sticking with brass, as most of our exterior doors are, currently. Brass against creamy white is hard to beat, and makes this little room feel so special.
Spoonflower
I’m partnering with Spoonflower, as they are kindly providing me with a few yards of fabric, of my choice, to use in this space. I can’t wait to share the projects that I’ve come up with! I’m hoping to receive my fabric soon, so I can get started. If you’re curious about what Spoonflower has to offer, let me tell you. Spoonflower has a wide variety of fabric types and patterns available, as well as beautiful wallpaper, home textiles ready-made for your enjoyment, and if you’re a creative type, you can even upload your own designs and they will print them for you. Here are the three fabrics I chose for the space.
See how well they mix with the existing pattern on the curtains that I made!
Changes
Did you notice the other changes to the mood board? I’ve changed my mind about using the vintage replica rug in the space, and instead have opted for this neutral plaid rug. I’ve also added a beautiful piece of art to display in the room. It’s such a cheery color, and perfect for a laundry room.
