Look for Less: Patterned Ceramic Tiles
I love seeing patterned tile in designs, and as it seems to have picked up steam over the last couple of years, you can easily find many options to fit your style and budget these days. One big issue a lot of people run into though, is the price. Many options seem to be pointing to cement tile, which is quite beautiful, but is also quite pricey, not to mention a beast to install, or so I’ve heard! Because I have no personal knowledge of the process I’m linking to an how-to post by Villa Lagoon Tile. I have no affiliation with them, I just thought they laid out the process on installation clearly, so you can get a better idea of what it takes to install cement tile. If you’re on a lower budget, but want to get the look for less, ceramic tiles are the way to go. From what I’ve read about installation, it seems like quite a bit less work, and you get the look for less, so why not? Here’s an article from Home Depot describing the installation process. It sure does seem to be easier, but then again, this is all a personal preference, and hey, maybe you aren’t the one installing them so it doesn’t matter anyways. If it does come down to budget though, again, ceramic patterned tiles almost always beat out cement patterned tiles. Here are some of my personal favorites on the market today. I am scheming up ways to incorporate one of these into my home as I type! I hope it works out!
Edit: Two of the nine tiles above are actually porcelain. (The Grotta Porcelain, and the Cementa Quatro Ara) I apologize for the confusion. I grew up thinking they were the same material. I have since found that they are not and wanted to make sure you all knew too. During my research I found that they are also great options to get the cement tile look for less, and are said to be even better than ceramic! I guess in a way that’s a good mistake!
