Powder Room Makeover-Reveal
This day has been something I’ve looked forward to for years! Honestly, we’ve been in this house for about three years and this is the first time I’ve ever been satisfied with how our main floor Powder Room looks! It’s gone through many makeovers, none of them really capturing exactly what I wanted for the room, and driving me to continue to get it “right”. With all of the other updates going on in our home, and the fact that I really have found my style, I knew it was time to give this room another go.
It all started at the end of last year, when I decided to put trim on the walls to bring in more detail to the space. I’d compare the room to a small walk-in closet with a high ceiling. Pretty boring! When I was done adding the trim, I painted it and the wall below it a dark gray. It was okay, but not really what I wanted, so I lived with that for a while to see if I would warm up to it. That didn’t happen, so at the beginning of the year I decided to paint it white and add a second band of trim to the wall to give it even more detail. With other projects on the books, I didn’t get to add that trim for quite some time. Some time being about four months! Eek! If you follow me on Instagram you know that about a week ago I was determined to get that trim up on the wall. Sure it took me until 9pm on Sunday night to do it, but it was done!
Fast forward to this past Saturday when we were prepping for the family to come over for Easter. It was a personal challenge to get this room completed for the occasion, so I sanded, filled, and caulked the wood. Of course my favorite part of the process. Mmhmm….. Then I painted it to match the rest of the white wall. I failed to mention before, that I had painted the wall above the trim Benjamin Moore-Gray Owl. We actually had Home Depot color match it in Behr paint. It’s such a beautiful color and combined with the white it really brightens up the space! To keep the continuity of the spaces throughout the house, I decorated with a few pictures that tie in with the others on the main floor. I brought the mirror that was in our dining room before its makeover into the room to serve as the main mirror above the sink. It’s even more beautiful in this space, and I think I should have done it a long time ago. The art above the toilet was made using two shadow boxes with star fish displayed inside. An easy and quick project that really made an impact in the space. The final piece of décor to make it into the room is the large jar placed on the cabinet. It was an obvious buy when I saw it, and we’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it since adding it into the room.
The outcome is exactly what I was hoping for it to be. It’s pretty, bright, and visually stimulating, but not overwhelming. It’s the closest it will get to being perfect without having real wainscoting installed and maybe a new cabinet and sink, but that will be an investment I will wait to make. For now, I’ll just enjoy my work.
Just so you can see how far I’ve come with this room, here are two before pictures from the last two makeovers.
Here it is now!
I hope you like this makeover! I’d love to hear what you think, so scroll own and leave me a comment if you have a moment. Have a wonderful day friends!

Thank you so much Rue! The lighting was a beast to work with when photographing it, so it’s not reading as pretty as it is in person, but I was so happy with it that I had to share anyways. 🙂
